The Emperor who Ruled

There once lived an emperor, mighty and strong. He was revered by the people of his kingdom. This emperor was the ruler of many lands, but he was generous. People admired him. He was the first to begin the whole monarch movement, and for generations his blood took to the throne. People loved him. He was easily approachable, and was always available to the common man. People spoke highly of his nature. Till his last breath, he ruled all his lands with absolute pride. People respected him in all ways. Emperors who came later did bear the same qualities of this ancient emperor, but...

Generations after generations the people were only ruled by monarchs, the soldiers were chosen from the best of lot, and they fought bravely to protect their lands and its people. Widows of these soldiers did not lament for too long over the brutal murders of their soldier-husbands, instead they prepared themselves to send forth their sons to the battlefield. If there were daughters, they were made to look after the comforts of these men. Thousands of years passed with the same tradition in practice, but...

Born into these lands, every new generation of bloodline was forced to follow and practice the tradition, until one day, a rebel chose to voice out. Things changed, matters became worse and people were made to believe in a different truth called democracy. Democracy believed in a ruler chosen by the people to run the workings of the land for the people and give the profits made to the people. A well-veiled authoritarian leadership grew in the name of democratic leadership. People liked to revel in this interpretation and never chose to come to light. Even to the present day, people believe that they are in a democratic country, but...

  2. I am not sure if my thoughts are well communicated or defined, please correct me. For the human nature remained the same - whether during the kings or latest regimes what I see the power holder remains the key. Only difference is that during earlier times the information remained in few hands and to a certain extent the traditions and other aspects of ethics and morals used to control the life. Now we have internet and every one is thinking in terms of "I" or "we" in a narrow sense. And the power remains somewhere else and finding the power holder remains a myth due to not traceable fact. Any ideology remains true with certain conditions and all the systems are not full proof. As the intelligent beings humans try and take advantage of every situation to their needs. Greed remains the fact of life hence problems including democracy as each one defines according to their needs instead of people.

  3. As far as internet and other media is concerned, I still believe that 95% of what we learn from here are the ones that the leaders want us to know. (We saw BJP party member's daughter's wedding happening on a grand scale after the ban of 1000Rs and old 500Rs currency; recently we saw a Congress party member's house being raided by the IT department - but what happened later remains a mystery even to this day!) All I want to say is that democracy has brought in a certain kind of freedom, however, it has also come with its own side of ugliness. And, I agree with you when you said, "Greed remains the fact of life..." - yes, greediness, the want and desire to accumulate more wealth is driving man crazy, he is unable to understand that he is heading towards his own doom.

  4. Follow or rebel,, a why is a word until it becomes a question, a what is a question until it becomes a practice, a who is a question until you realise yourself, and yet all there is freedom from oneself- democracy or monarchy otherwise that true freedom finds oneself... however , is it worth the price .. does absolute freedom mean absolute order or absolute anarchy.. can we handle that

  5. That's something to serious contemplate on. Absolute freedom is as dangerous as absolute totalitarianism. I am just upset with the masks.
