The gods were one with us...

Hundreds of stories told under the blanket of stars, the night spread became our visual gods. These gods were one with us, they knew no hate and no loss and no pain. We were happy to invite them to our humble sheds, and lay a buffet of whatever we could grow in the green fields. The gods were delighted with our geniality, and soon they bestowed on us their blessings. They wanted us to make three wishes, and we asked for nothing but just the livestock to increase to give us a good profit, this was the first wish. The gods took it as their command and granted the first of the lot. We then broadened our faces and claimed the second wish of that of the five elements - earth, water, air, fire and aether - for ourselves. The gods gave us that too. We did not think before we made the third wish and we simply asked the gods for great prosperity in our homes, and the gods smiled pleasingly and fulfilled our third wish too.

Today we pine for not having thought then, and for once, the gods knew what it was to hate, to lose and to feel the pain.

  1. Need is replaced by want and, eventually, by greed. Nothing can satisfy us humans completely. Life is no longer treated as a treasure, but a race. And when one does not get what he/she has been chasing for, negativity overshadows positivity!
Like always, you have explained a simple, yet complex view beautifully! :-) I really enjoyed reading this!

    1. A writer once told me that in order to write, you first have to be a little crazy. Guess, active readers such as you make the best in me come out. I'll try my best to give quality material. Thank you Sir.
