The Fault in Our Stars

"The Fault in Our Stars" - Wonderful and emotionally stimulating movie. It is based on John Green's novel, "The Fault in Our Stars". The plot is that two cancer patients, Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley), and Augustus Waters a.k.a. Gus (Ansel Elgort) meet at a support group and eventually fall in love. The movie shows how the patients cope with cancer, and meanwhile it subtly hints at the need to put up a courageous heart to fight against their destiny. There is an intermingling of another fiction (not a real book) Peter Van Houten's "An Imperial Afflictions" - characters quote from this book and they become integral to the story. A lovely blend of emotions and the need to survive is portrayed and the movie is sure to stir you into tears (I personally came out of the movie theater having bathed in a puddle of tears!). Also, the aspect of writing 'eulogy' stands most strikingly, for these people know the truth and it is in this truth they consider themselves special. Overall, it was a beautiful movie and I would give it a rating of 4.75 on a scale of 5.0. I would also consider reading the novel!

  2. Watching this was on my schedule as the book is really interesting and wants to see the characterization and screenplay as well. Watching movie was the really good feeling as the casting is really good. Over all experience I will agree with your rating. But there was this movie of Maniratnam way back I am not sure of the year (early 90’s) with the same theme but the characters are bit old. Read the book you will feel the experience of watching movie.
